Going South

If you think Charleston, South Carolina is the quintessential southern town, you haven’t visited Savannah, Georgia. Steeped in history (founded in 1733) and spared the wrath of Sherman’s Civil War march to the sea, you can spend days touring the Historic District’s buildings and parks. The towering cast iron fountain in Forsyth Park is a must see. As for shopping, stroll through the City Market or along Jones Street and River Street to discover a unique treasure. But be sure and come hungry because southern cuisine achieves a sky-high level in this town. And before you leave, venture out to Tybee Island for a laidback beach experience.
