Sweating the Big Stuff

While summer storms in the south deliver much needed rain and cooler temperatures, sometimes they leave behind a few extra gifts—like downed trees and power lines. This week we received an abundance of both. Two different storms knocked out our power twice in the same day. When I called the utility company to report the second outage, I was told the problem was fixed hours ago. A true statement for the earlier outage. Although the call center person promised to notify utility personnel for a second time, I’m certain she thought I was missing a few brain cells. After a number of hot hours in the dark, our lights and air conditioning clicked on before the inside temperature matched the sultry outdoors. Wow, talk about a sweaty day.
